In a spirit of prayer, gratitude, and fraternity, the Salesian community of Divyadaan, Nashik, joyfully witnessed the installation of Fr Ivo Coelho SDB as the new Rector on the evening of Monday, September 22, 2025. The solemn installation ceremony took place during the Eucharistic celebration, presided over by Fr Ashley Miranda SDB, the newly appointed Provincial of the Salesian Province of Mumbai (INB). Fr Ivo Coelho SDB succeeded Fr Robert Pen SDB, who, with dedication and pastoral zeal, served and guided the community during his term as Rector, and now continues his service as the Vice Provincial of INB.
In his homily, Fr Miranda reflected on the central role of the Rector in a Salesian community. He underlined that the Rector is not merely an administrator, but above all, a spiritual guide who reflects the voice of God and serves as a visible reminder of God's presence and considers that each member of the community is a beloved child of God. He said, “The Rector represents Christ within the community and accompanies its members in discerning God’s will, especially in their mission towards the poor and the young.” He further noted that the Rector is called to foster an atmosphere of love, trust, and unity and to encourage a spirit of generosity and zeal among all.
Following the homily, the Provincial formally read out the appointment letter of Fr Coelho as the Rector of Divyadaan, Nashik for the term 2025-2028. This was followed the profession of faith proclaimed by Fr Coelho and at the end of which, he, along with the Provincial, signed the official document of installation. The installation was graced by Salesians from neighbouring communities, staff members, and well-wishers, who came together in prayerful support for the new rector. As they congratulated Fr Coelho, who assumed into the office formally, the Eucharistic celebration continued in an atmosphere of thanksgiving and hope.
After the Eucharist celebration, the gathering moved to a festive community meal, marking not only the installation, but also a moment of unity and brotherhood in true Salesian style. The community expressed its heartfelt gratitude to Fr Pen for his tireless and generous service during the past years, and warmly welcomed Fr Coelho as he took up the mantle of guiding and accompanying the young Salesians in the Post-Novitiate formation community. With the spirit of Don Bosco as their direction, the community looks forward with faith and enthusiasm to this new chapter under the leadership of Fr Coelho, their Rector.
